CL - Lifted

So I know this is going to be a controversial song to talk about but I am going to give it a shot.
I ask that people realize it is not my intention to convince anyone not to watch this video.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way this is obviously about CL's new video "Lifted." I am going
to start on a less controversial front and talk about everything as it is. CL's new video has a mellow almost reggae vibe and is entirely in English as it is intended as CL's American debut.

Now, this is where things get iffy. I know CL really wants to break out into the American
music market but I don't think she should. She is just going to waste her time. The only
Korean artist who has succeeded in the U.S. was Psy and that only happened because
Americans thought "Gangnam Style" was catchy and stupid. The odds of CL making
a name for herself in the U.S. Are almost nonexistent. My concern is she is going to waste
her talent on an industry that doesn't care about her and abandon the one that does.

On top of that, there is the song. Even if that song was sung by a popular American singer
it would still go nowhere. Americans thrive on catchy beats and dance tunes... Which this
definitely is not. This is the kind of song you would hear in a commercial and think nothing of.
The song has no pizazz, no passion, no power... All the things we have come to expect from CL
but don't see in this song.
Check out the video below and let me know what you think.

Tymee - Cinderella

The queen of rap is back!
Just the other day Tymee released "Cinderella," her first track in over a year.
"Cinderella" is a powerful hip-hop track that composed mostly of rap and as many people
have pointed out the video is sub par. However, the song almost more than makes up
for the video. The raps are out of this world as always and Tymee sure as hell knows what she
is doing. To this day Tymee is the only person who can get me to listen to a song that
is entirely rap.
Check out Korea's fastest female rapper below.

HANHAE - EYESCREAM

HanHae recently released a really nice collaboration with Jeong Eun Ji.
The two's vocals meld beautifully in this melodic love song.
One of my favorite things about this song is how the chorus almost acts
like a conversation between the two. It is a little off putting hearing
Eun Ji's voice and not seeing her in the video but I have noticed a lot of songs
doing that lately. I am glad that at least the girl in the video isn't lip syncing.
That is one thing I still can't get over in Mad Clowns' "Fire" I see Hani but don't hear her.

Anyway, this is an honestly beautiful song and a really touching
video and you should check it out.

I.B.I Debut

Just a day ago fans dreams were realized as project group I.B.I launched their debut.
I.B.I began as a fan idea after Produce 101 left them wanting more, wishing
more of the girls could make their debut in fiction group I.B.I. However, 1theK has
officially made this a reality.

I.B.I stands for "I Believe It" and is made up of members Han Hyeri, Kim So Hee,
Lee Haein, Lee Suhyun, and Yoon Chaekyung. At this point, there is no official
word on how long this group will last so we will just have to wait and see.

The girls debuted with the song "Molae Molae" which is a very catchy, cheerful,
and upbeat song. I personally think that the school girl/spring/summer concept seems to suit them well, and I would love to see them produce more songs like this.
Check them out below and let me know what you think.

SPICA - Get Lucky (Cover)

This is pretty much what it sounds like.
Spica recently released a 360-degree video of them covering Daft Punks song
"Get Lucky." All I really have to say is that this video is definitely worth checking out.
I will post the link below as always.

Cosmic Girls - Secret

Finally, Cosmic Girls live up to their potential.
After a subpar debut, the girls came back with "Secret," a well-choreographed,
artistic masterpiece with the vocals to match. This song more than makes up for
my disappointment with "Catch Me." Starship has honestly outdone themselves with this
One and have most likely exceeded their budget. Aside from the well-composed
song, that fits the girl's voices perfectly, the video is out of this world... Literally.

The video features unbelievable visuals and a compelling story containing
otherworldly fantasy creatures, magic, and space travel.
Everyone should at some point see this video regardless of liking kpop.
You can check it out for yourself below.

I.O.I - Whatta Man

Now for the song that has officially made me an I.O.I fan.
Also on August 8th I.O.I released their newest song "Whatta Man." This "I Don't Need A Man"
meets "Expected" hit combines the classic with the modern as a new twist on an old song.
"Whatta Man" is fierce and not afraid to flaunt it, a nice break from the seductive and
cutesy songs we have been seeing out of various groups lately.
Check it out below.

BLACKPINK Debut

So if you haven't heard of this group yet there is a large chance you have
never heard of the internet. So if you are reading this on a printout I feel sorry for you.

Anyway, now that that is out of the way, BlackPink is the new four-member girl group
with YG Entertainment. Since their debut on August 8th Lisa, Jennie, Ji Soo, and Rose have topped almost every music chart you can think of and probably some you have never heard of.
This highly anticipated debut was not disappointing. The girls released two music videos for songs "Boombaya" and "Whistle" these girls have much promise. With a style I would compare to
Exid, Evol, and possibly even 4Minute they still resemble their sister group 2NE1 but
definitely don't fail to set themselves apart.

These super catchy and unique songs have become the talk of the kpop community for
seeming more like a senior group than rookies but with all girls training for at least 4 years
These girls are far from rookies. The songs and videos are super high budget, polished, and
rise above what we have come to expect from rookies. On the other hand YG Entertainment
would never debut a group they thought wasn't ready.
Anyway, I know I am an immediate fan. See for your self and let me know what you think below.

Start of School

So, I know I haven't been posting much lately... Or at all for that matter.
However, with the start of school approaching, I am cutting back on my work hours
and will hopefully be able to post more.

In honor of this and in hope of increasing my motivation you can all expect
3 more posts coming later today.
Look forward to it.
